About Us

Our sorority was created by founders Jessica Kempton, Kyra Carson, Evonne Lingley, and Keisha Harris-Mitchell, in the fall of 2017/early 2018. The founders created Tau Lambda Xi Sorority to be a sorority that encourages Self-Discovery, emphasizes the importance of Learning, and provides women with a supportive and loving Community of friends that they can call sisters. Tau Lambda Xi was created to bring women together in an environment that helps them to develop their identity and allows them to make a difference in their community.

Tau Lambda Xi is a local sorority with both an active (undergraduate) chapter and alumnae chapter existing in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Our undergraduate chapter is an officially ratified society at Dalhousie University however we accept female-identifying students (and/or students who are comfortable with female pronouns) going to any post-secondary institution within the HRM. This includes diploma, certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs. Our alumnae chapter is open for mature students ages 26 or above to join. We offer various social, philanthropic and formal events, as well as leadership endeavors for our members to pursue.
